God Has A Plan

In the summer of '97 after committing to come to Lihue, I asked God what He wanted me to do in Lihue. It seemed clear to me that His direction was twofold:
1) be a man of prayer and
2) minister in such a way that the church becomes known as "The Praying Church".
Before I left Bethany I envisioned finding a way to offer to pray for any who called upon us.

Once here I moved immediately to be a man of prayer. I went to the "office" almost every morning. (The "office" is Kalapaki Beach.)
I did this for months. It took me a year to have the courage to offer to pray for anyone who called upon us. Finally I felt God directing us to use a special and unexpected gift from a friend in Oklahoma City to begin advertising in the newspaper.
I wrote a story to go with it. We call it "Prayerlink Ministry".
There has been a steady trickle of "strangers" calling me. We've had some encouraging answers. Now after a year of advertising once a week, I am fairly well known as the "prayer man".
People even come up to me to ask for prayer. A man saw me this week who said, "How's the praying going?"

Many months ago I felt led to add on a monthly Public Prayerlink Meeting on a weeknight. Again, it took lots of prayer to be sure and couage even then.
I decided upon September 15th as our first meeting. That was before I knew some other developments. At that first meeting we had the lady we had led to the Lord earlier give her testimony of how God spared her by giving her a liver transplant on July 4th in "the nick of time", just days before she would have died.
Several of her family came to hear her testimony. At the end of the meeting people were talking about the next month's meeting.

We are excited to be anticipating how God will work when we get together on December 9th. I am still amazed that though we average only 12 for worship and 7 in Sunday School we have had 33, 25, and 35 in these three meetings.
God is doing His thing. May His name be praised forever and ever!

Prayerfully,

Fred Wenger
